We like to talk about momentum as if it’s a straight line—a clean, forward glide where discipline meets results. But life rarely hands us a clear, unobstructed path. More often, momentum gets hijacked by misdirection, physical walls, and system brick walls that threaten to pull us completely under.
Right now, I am living in the thick of a medical navigation loop that feels designed to test every ounce of my sanity. When health hurdles force a hard stop, “frustrated” doesn’t even cover the feeling. It is a specific kind of exasperation that makes me feel like the person I built myself to be is slipping through my fingers while I’m left managing the paperwork, the fatigue, and the waiting rooms.
When my body isn’t giving me the fuel to run at full capacity, the hardest battle isn’t just surviving the physical toll—it’s holding onto ME. It’s remembering who I am under the weight of the exhaustion, the paused plans, and the constant fight to get basic care back on track.
I know the conventional advice is to stop, lie down, and pause everything. And while encouraging people to blindly “push through” medical crises can be perilous, I also know how I am built: sitting still and doing absolutely nothing simply isn’t an option for my soul. I need to keep moving, even if the pace changes.
Here is the truth I am holding onto this week:
Survival isn’t lost momentum. Getting through the day when my engine is running on zero isn’t pulling back; it’s endurance.
The wins still count. Pushing through 24 hours of continuing education to renew my insurance license while battling severe fatigue wasn’t minor—it was proof to myself that the core of who I am hasn’t gone anywhere.
Redefining the pace. Some seasons allow me to sprint, but right now, progress means holding my ground, anchoring myself, and refusing to let the noise take what’s left of my peace.
To anyone else currently lost in a system, fighting a body that won’t cooperate, or wondering where they went in the middle of a storm: we are still in here, doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes.
The momentum isn’t gone. It just looks like grit today.
